Freda Hudson Volunteer Recognition Award - 2009

Mona Arsenault is a highly valued volunteer with The Learning Exchange who has demonstrated a dedication to excellence and innovation as well as a commitment to her students and colleagues alike. Mona has worked with TLE since 1992 not only as a volunteer tutor and board member but also as a facilitator and tutor/student support person. She has worked tirelessly in the field of adult literacy with fellow volunteers and students of diverse needs. I have found her to display natural teaching qualities and virtues. Her dedication, demeanour, patience and personable approach with our students, and her work to forward the cause of literacy, put her well above the rest. Mona works with TLE to facilitate workshops and support sessions, including:

• Student Chat
• Tutor Talk/Volunteer Voice
• T.V. and Literacy
• Motivational Speaking

We are fortunate to have Mona as a member of The Learning Exchange. Currently she is TLE’s President and having had the pleasure of working with Mona personally for many years, it is without any reserve that I offer her name for the Freda Hudson memorial Pin. Mona has truly established herself as a valuable member of our literacy team, gaining the trust and respect of our adult students, volunteer members and staff. Having known Freda myself, I believe Mona is a deserving volunteer because like Freda, Mona’s dedication to her students and the cause of literacy puts her above the rest.
