HISTORY
Laubach Literacy of Canada-Quebec (LLC-Q) began as an association of Laubach affiliated councils in 1980. In 1995 LLC-Q added Literacy Volunteers of Quebec (LVQ) to its name to include all volunteer literacy organizations in Quebec. When Laubach Literacy of Canada closed it's doors in March 2008, LLC-Q/LVQ changed its name to Literacy Volunteers of Quebec. LVQ consists of eleven member councils from Gaspé to the Outaouais:

In March of 1999 the Quebec Ministry of Education granted the group accreditation. A part-time provincial Coordinator was hired to implement the goals determined by the LVQ Board of Directors.
LVQ activities include:
- Networking with literacy-related groups
- Conducting outreach to create new partnerships
- Advocating for literacy
- Providing professional development opportunities for its members
- Working in partnership with government agencies
- Conducting research and development
- Promoting public awareness
