Lesson 11

Qq

I basically am an adrenaline junkie. I like to climb mountains, rock rappel, play paintball, work as a fire fighter, ride motorcycles… riding around like a nutcase!

Anything that means chasing, shooting (and trying not to get shot!), and having to physically move around quickly.

With the mountain climbing: you know you have a rope, but you also know that you can fall 30 or 40 feet. I wear a helmet when I climb however. I’m crazy but I’m not that crazy.

I used to ride 5 km home from school on a dirt bike when I lived in Calabogie.
I like doing jumps and donuts. Once I miscalculated a turn and broke a leg when I was a kid. I was going too fast on a tight trail.

I also broke my arm once jumping off an obstacle course playing tag. I hit my arm on a beam.
My mother said: “What were you thinking?”

Lesson 12

Rr

If you are prepared for mud and you don’t care, you can do anything in the rain.

If I see it’s raining, I go ahead with my plans, but there is a point after which you can’t complete something; like cutting the grass.

My mother and I run into the lake when it’s raining, when everyone else runs out of it.
The water is warmer when it is raining.

I don’t really like rain when it’s cold.
It wouldn’t really bother me to live in Jamaica where it rains six months of the year.

Lesson 13

Cc and Ss

I try to study on my own. I use the Voyager guide to do reading practice.

I need to read lists at work. I can pick up a manual to find out how to do something, but I find it easier to remember if I am shown how.

With the Fire Department, we have to take written tests. I don’t plan how I will do them until that day comes.

I know that they will have to be done, but stress is not my thing.
It makes me all edgy.

The training is on going for the Fire Department.
There are new techniques, but not all of these require a test.

It’s good to know everything that you will need to do in a fire – practicing with the air packs and time limits need to be tested.

Lesson 14

Tt

I’d like to take a trip to the jungle – because it would be something different.

Pure jungle… a wild place, not like a civilized jungle.
Like one on South America, with tigers.
I don’t mind the heat.

It would be great to live in a treehouse and see all the things that live in the rainforests, like sloths and monkeys.
I don’t mind snakes either.

I have never taken an organized tour. When I went to Jamaica, my ex-girl friend knew the language and the customs – but it was very easy to get along there.
Body language can say a lot when you can’t speak the language; the accent really “chops up” the language there.

There are still wild places in Jamaica.
I wouldn’t mind to try that one day.
